Worm Regards and Other Stories is the third feature-length animated film made entirely by Xi Chen.
The 93-minute film is about Worm Civilization: a world of interviews, feeding systems, production lines, museums, machines, artists, life expectancy departments, and polite administrative endings.
Two bipedal worms work inside this system, harming lower life forms in different ways. After visiting the Worm Museum, they wander toward the seashore by walking along the tops of high walls. Below them, lower life forms live inside pockets formed by those walls. The pockets are designed to receive harm.
At the seashore, the two bipedal worms try to release their baby to the sea. The Beautiful Machine intercepts the baby and turns it into a contagious seed. She then transforms the two bipedal worms into earthworm-like worms. Carried by the shockwave of her magical wand, the two worms arrive inside one of the lower pockets, but not directly among the lower life forms. They are placed inside a protective watchtower.
From inside the watchtower, the two earthworms create an artist, a lower life form who is sent out to photograph other lower life forms and water birds. Later, the artist has a solo exhibition at the Worm Museum.
The Beautiful Machine may be real, or she may be the image the worms need in order to endure their lives. She is the fantasy of an ending beautiful enough to feel like freedom. Yet if she does not come to finish them, the worms still continue. They return to the system and imagine being ended by her.

93分の本作は、ワーム文明についての映画である。そこには、インタビュー、給餌システム、生産ライン、美術館、機械、アーティスト、寿命管理部門、そして礼儀正しい行政的な終わりが存在している。
二足歩行の二匹のワームは、このシステムの中で働き、それぞれ異なる方法で下位生命体に害を与えている。ワーム美術館を訪れたあと、彼らは高い壁の上を歩きながら海辺へと向かう。その壁の下では、壁によって作られたポケットの中で下位生命体たちが暮らしている。ポケットは、害を受け止めるために設計されている。
海辺で、二匹の二足歩行のワームは、自分たちの赤ん坊を海へ逃がそうとする。魔法少女はその赤ん坊を奪い、感染する種へと変える。そして魔法少女は、二匹の二足歩行のワームをミミズのようなワームへと変形させる。魔法の杖の衝撃波によって、二匹のワームは下位ポケットの一つへと送られる。しかし、彼らは下位生命体たちの中に直接置かれるのではない。彼らは守られた監視塔の中に配置される。
監視塔の中から、二匹のミミズのようなワームは、下位生命体であるアーティストを作り出す。そのアーティストは外へ送り出され、ほかの下位生命体や水鳥を撮影する。のちに、そのアーティストはワーム美術館で個展を開く。
魔法少女は実在するのかもしれないし、ワームたちが自分たちの生活に耐えるために必要としたイメージなのかもしれない。彼女は、自由のように感じられるほど美しい終わりの幻想である。だが、もし彼女が彼らを終わらせるために来なかったとしても、ワームたちはなお続いていく。彼らはシステムへ戻り、彼女によって終わらせられることを想像し続ける。
